My son was born in May and was a little league 7 year old last season. He played Jr. Cappy and this year his friends are all moving up to Sr. Cappy. Will my son play Sr. Cappy or repeat Jr. Cappy? |
[top] | ||||
|
No player will have to repeat the level they played last year because
of the age change at the lower levels. Players who played t-ball, Jr. Cappy
and Sr. Cappy last Spring will move up one level this season.
Little League International (Williamsport) has adopted new guidelines for determining a players "Little League Age". The league age determination date is the age a player has attained as of a specific date, for the purpose of placing the player in a particular division. The old date in the baseball and softball divisions of Little League was July 31. Starting with the 2006 season, the date in all divisions of Little League Baseball will be April 30 of the current year/season. Click here for the 2006 age charts. For example: Under the old regulation, a baseball player who turns 10 years old in May, June or July of 2006 would have been considered league-age 10 for the entire 2006 season. That would have been the case, despite the fact that such a player likely would have played most or all of the regular season (which generally ends in June) without having actually reached his or her 10th birthday. Under the new regulation, such a player will have a league age of 9 throughout the 2006 season. All players with birthdays in May, June or July will effectively "repeat" their Little League age in the 2006 season. Please consult the Little League website for a more detailed discussion of the changes. http://www.littleleague.org/media/age_change_Oct05.asp Registration will tell us the number and age mix of players we have this season. With this information, we will make any necessary adjustments to the size and shape of our various league divisions to best serve our players. These decisions will help determine our spring evaluation process. We will send out this information sometime after registrations close. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 12’S Babe Ruth will accept any and all 12 year old players into their league. Babe Ruth is not part of FALL but does adhere to the same age determination rules. |

I mailed my check but haven't heard anything yet. How do I know what is next? |
[top] | ||||
|
When we process the registration we send a confirmation email. If you have
recently mailed the application (and other paperwork) and you do not receive
a confirmation from us before the registration deadline then please follow
up with us again.
To review your registration status log into the database at www.fairfieldamericanll.org/login.asp using your email address and password. If you don't know your password you may retrieve it at www.fairfieldamericanll.org/fpw.asp. Once you've logged in, you can verify the information we have is accurate and complete (for both parents and players), and check the registration status. Players who have paid will have a green check, as well as the check number and amount that they have paid in the right hand column. If the player has been assigned to a team it will appear in this section as well (the team name will be a link to the roster). |

My child attends Burr School but played with FFALL last season. This year all of his classmates are playing with the National League. In which league should I register? |
[top] | ||||
|
Little League allows for a player to remain with the league with which
he begins his Little League career even if that player moves or the leagues
boundaries move. This means that you have the option of registering with
either league. If you have an older sibling who is playing (will be playing
in the spring) with one league or the other you may register a younger sibling
with the same league.
Effective with the 2006 season both Fairfield National and FALL will adhere to the following boundaries: We will split players by elementary school. The following schools are in FFALL territory, if your son or daughter attends these schools they can play in Fairfield AMERICAN Little League: Mill Hill, Sherman, Riverfield, Osborn Hill, Dwight School. If you attend any of the other public elementary schools you are in the NATIONAL District. Players who attend private school will defer to their public school address. Not sure which elementary school you should attend? Please consult the Board of Education's street list. Important Caveat for Residency Requirement: Little League provides for a generous grandfather policy. If you started your LL career in one league or the other you may remain in that league for the duration of your Little League career. If you have an older sibling in one league or the other you may join that league. If your parent was a significant volunteer in one league you may join that league. Any player who started in one league but now resides in the other (Osborn, Holland Hill and Burr Kids are most affected by this) may switch or stay in the league they started in. Any questions about these changes can be directed by email to support@fairfieldamericanll.com |

Can my child play with his/her friends? |
[top] | ||||
|
At the T-Ball, JR and SR Cappy levels (6-8 yrs Old) we arrange teams by school so the
chances are your child will have some friends on his team. At 9 years old the players
are evaluated and placed on teams via a draft system. We do not accept requests to
place players with friends.

Games & Scores [top] |

Game Results, Innings Pitched, Home Runs |
[top] | ||||
|
In addition to the team standings page, the league website now tracks Home Runs and Pitcher's Innings and will provide summaries of the same. The home run race can be viewed on the standings page (http://www.fairfieldamericanll.org/view_standings.asp) while all pitcher's innings are listed on the game day page (go to your schedule and click on the Game Day link). It is the home team manager's responsibility to ensure the scores and game statistics (home runs, pitcher's innings) are entered into the database as soon as possible, certainly within 24 hours. These scores feed the league standings which all of the players watch, so please be prompt. In case you are wondering why we track Runs Allowed, it is the first tie-breaker we use at the end of the season for teams with identical records. We use runs allowed, instead of runs scored so that we dont have situations where teams need to run up the score in order to better their position. Runs allowed is widely used in Little League summer tournaments as it discourages poor sportsmanship and rewards strong defensive play. |

Entering Scores, etc. |
[top] | ||||
|
To enter a score, login to the database, click on your name, and follow the link in the bottom right corner to Enter Game Scores (you may also get to this page from the game schedule page, if you are logged in, by clicking on Edit Score). Choose your league and then select the game for which you would like to update the score. Enter the score and defensive innings for both teams and click SAVE. Scroll to the bottom of the page and enter the Away Team innings pitched and any home runs hit and click Save HR & IP. Click on the Home Team button and enter the home team's innings pitched and home runs and click Save HR & IP. If you have not entered your player's jersey numbers, you can do so from this page as well. To view this information before the next game, log into the database, go to your game schedule, and click on Game Day. Click on Show Roster to view the team's roster. If a player has pitched in that calendar week (Sunday to Saturday) then their innings pitched will be indicated in the IP column. You may print this form to record the final score, defensive innings, and pitchers' innings during the game to enter the data later. Clicking either the innings pitched or the IP column header will display a report of the team's total pitching for that calendar week (who pitched in what games and how many innings they pitched). |

Rescheduling Games |
[top] | ||||
|
Rained out Major League and AAA games must be rescheduled at the earliest date possible. AA games that are not played may be rescheduled as field space is available (at the discretion of the AA commissioner and the field space coordinator). Cappy and T-ball games/practices are not rescheduled. To ensure that the pitchers innings report accurately you must change the date of all rescheduled games (by coordinating makeups through the Fields Administrator). To reschedule a game look at the list of Open Fields (click on Games, then "OF" for Open Fields) and find a slot that you would like to use. Request that field from the Fields Administrator (who will make sure the slot is still available and assign it in your schedule). Majors and AAA must also notify the Umpire Coordinator to arrange for umpires. |
|||||
When do games start? |
[top] | ||||
|
Practices start on or after the April 1st as determined by your coach.
Games typically start around the last weekend in April or the first weekend
in May. Major League opening day is the first weekend in May.
|
|||||
Its raining...are we playing? |
[top] | ||||
|
In order to avoid any confusion about whether a practice or a game is going to be held (or rained-out) we will follow the Recreation Departments field closure policy*: if the fields are open we are playing, if they are closed we are not playing. Occasionally the fields will be open but bad weather will roll in. In that case, assume we are playing until one of the coaches calls to tell you otherwise (which may not be until the last minute because we need to check with the other team's manager before we cancel a game). The rec department posts the field closures very early. You can check the status by calling the rec hotline: 256-3144 then press 5 for cancellations and press 5 again for field closures . *The field closure policy does NOT apply at Mill Hill where all games are
played (whether or not the Rec Dept. has closed the fields) unless you hear
from your coach. |

This brings you to the Edit Game screen. To reserve the cages:
If you goof before you click save, you can click the reset game button and the previous settings will be reloaded. Do Not DELETE a game under any circumstances. In the interest of fairness please don't be gluttons and over book the spots, and if you book one but aren't going to use it, reset the Away Team to "OF: Open" and click save. |
